Not only do Funny Women have a spring showcase coming up, they’re also open to entries for the Funny Women Awards:
We welcome all levels of performance and the only criteria is that you are a ‘new act’ and we qualify this by giving entrants a five year break. During seven years of running the Funny Women Awards we recognise that some women take a break from performing to have families, study or travel, so we’ve acknowledged this by increasing the time criteria from three to five years for this year’s competition.
The Funny Women Awards are friendly and supportive. We aim to see every entrant at a live showcase, or heat, on the basis that it gives women a chance to perform. Even if you don’t feel quite ready, give it a go just to kick start your performing career and gain a bit of stage time. There’s no set time limit and we’ll keep taking entries until we’ve filled up the last showcase.
